What is Kava Culture?
Monica Simmons is hoping it becomes the most popular hangout in town.
The owner of the soon-to-be-opened business at 2213 West State Street visited members of the Alliance Rotary Club recently to describe her establishment that will be a unique feature in the Carnation City.
“It is a non-alcoholic bar that will be open to people of all ages,” explained Simmons, who is racing to become the first franchisee to open in Ohio. “It’s a place where you can bring everyone -- your kids, even your dogs – and have a good time and then still be able to drive home.”

In today's rapidly evolving world, financial literacy is more crucial than ever. Yet, many young adults embark on their financial journeys ill-equipped to navigate the complexities of budgeting, saving, and investing. Recognizing this gap, a number of Alliance Rotarians recently volunteered with the Alliance YWCA to facilitate an eye-opening financial simulation called Real Money Real World. This innovative program aims to empower students by immersing them in the real-life financial decisions and challenges they will face as adults.
Real Money Real World, a program of Ohio State University Extension, is not your typical classroom exercise. Instead, it's a 4 class hands-on, interactive simulation where students step into the shoes of a 27-year-old with the career of their choice. From doctors to teachers, engineers to artists, participants are tasked with managing a monthly budget based on their hypothetical income and expenses. Through this experience, they gain invaluable insights into the financial realities of adulthood, including paying bills, managing debt, and making tough choices about spending and saving.

Similarly, Wreaths Across America places the traditional decorations on the graves of military veterans as a symbol of the nation’s enduring gratitude and a gesture to honor our heroes for their sacrifices.
The Jane Bain Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution would like nothing more than to place a wreath on every veteran’s grave within Alliance City Cemetery. However, with approximately 1,500 veterans laid to rest at the site, that is a tall order.

Alliance’s new mayor has spent his entire life serving people.
Now retired, he is embarking on a new challenge in the public arena as Alliance’s 51st mayor after serving a four-year term on city council.
Grove, accompanied by his wife Sue, addressed members of the Rotary Club of Alliance during its meeting on Wednesday, September 13, which happened to be his birthday.

Alliance Rotarians Tour SES LLC
Yet, hundreds of people pass by the SES LLC facility every day and have no idea of the innovative work conducted there.
